Hostelworld

Need a Hostel for the night, but not sure where to go? Hostelworld provides you with a million alternatives to choose from. The app is extremely slick and easy to navigate. Great features include being able to browse the map so you can find a hostel in a suitable location, failing that, choose your hostel based on the hundreds of reliable reviews left by other travellers! Available for Free on iOS and Android markets.

Hostelbookers

An alternative to Hostelworld, both are as good as each other in terms of functionality. I guess it comes down to user preference, it’s also good practice to compare prices against one another! Available for Free on iOS and Android markets.

Airbnb

Everyone needs to try Airbnb at some point in their life. Hosts rent out their House/Apartment/ Room for a reasonable price. It’s great for networking and making contacts with locals as you’ll get local insights from the Hosts. You can view, book and rate a hosts accommodation. Upon signing up you’ll have to make a personal profile. This is so hosts know what kind of person you are and whether they think you’ll be a suitable guest. The Airbnb service is very focused on reviews/ratings to ensure you have a great experience. Available for Free on iOS and Android markets.

Couchsurfing

Very similar to Airbnb in the fact that it’s based around ratings of the Host and Guest. However this time it’s free! The hosts are generous enough to open up their home to a complete stranger, whether it’s a blow up bed, king sized bed or a couch. Please understand that you have to be respectful the the host and their property. Available for Free on iOS and Android markets.
